      Typically the injured side. In the videos, I could be on the uninjured side just so I could be out of the way.

    Hello and thank you for your video... I descended some stairs 2.5 years ago (I wasnt used to using stairs), and after that had a weird pain in my left knee medial side that didn't get better. I got xrays that showed I had not much joint space (osteoarthristis). I went to PT, it hurt a lot, pushing my knee down and at home it hurt too. So I stopped. Only recently I realize, 2 years later, that my knee is now a little bent - (and I believe I injured it going down the stairs) caused this... I can't get full extension both ways like I can with my right knee....New xrays show it is close to bone on bone. I didnt get an MRI..... Total knee replacement is recommended at this point. I am reading about Anthrofibrosis and i think I may indeed have had that since the stair incident....... This really concerns me ::: -- I am reading that I could have this bent knee issue AFTER total knee replacement if I had it BEFORE TKR... so that would really make me not want the surgery. ------ Can I get your opinion on this? It would be much much appreciated. I am a 73 year old woman in good health besides walking very badly and very unhappy with this situation. Thank you for your help.

      You can regain the motion after a TKA but you need to start motion soon after surgery and be diligent with your exercises.

      My concern is I would be afraid to do a TKR and still have this 'frozen knee' afterwards... my knee is rock solid frozen.... ? Did the patient in your video do well after everything?

    i hate the recumbent bike! my knees bend more on it which makes it hurt.. and i have short legs so i have to scoot closer to reach the pedals with my feet, which makes my knees hit me in the belly and boobs when i pedal! super uncomfortable. I agree with this guy that the upright is easier on the knees.

    It's interesting to see how the foot behaves after a rupture, but is that all that she received, an orthotic? Have fun trying to walk on that.

    Great videos, Paul. Question: Are calf / toe raises appropriate for metatarsalgia or should they be avoided? Thanks.

    • @OrthoEvalPal
      @OrthoEvalPal 9 годин тому

      I avoid it. Causes a lot of trauma to the metatarsals. If needing to do them though, do it on an Airex pad.

    put a tennis ball on the floor , put your foot on ball and work that ball around up and down the bottom of your foot you will feel the tight spots , just keep doing every night , you might have to stop cause it can get a little painful , just work that around , difficult at first chasing that ball but keep on , you will feel it loosing up that tendon and in most cases fixes the problem , fyi

    3/28/24 I am surprised at the lack of instruction from the medical field, so I am very grateful for you. I had surgery last week as I shattered my patella. I am 70 years old and fit, but my biggest fear is getting over a threshold just to stand on a porch or maybe to get in the shower in the future. I am so filled with anxiety about this and I’m not typically anxious but I don’t know which direction to go. I’m hoping you’ll also do a video on this. It just seems to be a little different from stairs, which I’m, also not navigating. If I have to go up the stairs, I scoot up and down up on my bum.

    Im 19 years old 1,5 years ago I had a direct blow in my knee . Due to the bad decision of my doctor like I had only an x-ray and no mri He misdiagnosed . Actually my patellar tendon almost tear And I had to have surgery but i didn't . The MRI I did 8 months later says that my tendon is okay but even now I can't walk for a long distance, i can't go up and down the stairs without pain I can't even straighten my leg when im sitting. ? Is there a chance that I can get my strength in my tendon? Now its too late for surgery,maybe a tendon graft its good idea?

    My knee definitely buckles forward then whips back kinda going down stairs and on occasion on flat surfaces and this is with a dislocated knee injury back in December 2023 from overused knee extensions going up and down stairs wells all day as a delivery driver where I wasn't physically fit to do it.

    What about strengthening the arch and foot muscles to naturalize the foot’s structure and the person’s gait? I switched to barefoot sandals and realized how weak my feet muscles are from wearing cushioned/arch supported shoes my whole life. Do you think arch supports are a temporary fix and just treating a symptom? Thanks for the video doc :)

    Omg I’m suffering mercilessly 😢 major positive 20/10 pain. Feels like my arm is coming off of my body if I move; it pops and grinds loudly. Sometimes if I forget (which is so dumb because why would you forget THAT pain?), the pain is so bad it nearly drops me to my knees. I’m woken up every couple of hours and have been a side sleeper my whole life. Can’t sleep on either side. I lay on my back and there’s constant knawing . A lot of midclavicular discomfort and pain goes down my arm, too. Glad I found this. Have a contrast arthrogram in June. I literally did nothing to cause this….

    I’m having severe pain! When I roll my hips fwd, there’s a TON of lower back pressure always. I tried the exercise w/ leg hanging off table and my lower back popped immediately. I’m going to do all these once pain is down but I can hardly walk. I’d rather be in labor w/ my kids than go through this!

    So doing the exercise where we pull our tummy in (when sitting or doing abs-pulling to the floor) rolling the hips fwd and stomach/abs inward to the spine should be a good workout right? Seems like this can be done almost anywhere.
